Throughout the course of this semester I have put in countless amounts of effort in order to finish this class with an A. I hope this reflection letter will truly show you why I deserve that letter grade and what I will continue to do for the remainder of this semester to earn that grade.
My Letter To The Instructor paper was the first paper that was assigned to me this year and I’m proud to say that I completed that paper with a very high score of 100% (5 stars). The context of this paper contained my own thoughts and feelings about this class and some brief history about myself. The audience of this paper was my professor and the purpose of the paper was designed to allow Professor Intawiwat to understand what type of student I am so it will better her understanding of how she can help me understand the course better and getting to know me as her student for the whole semester. I was trying to achieve my professor getting to know me better so we can better understand each other throughout the semester. My essay was revised several times and I took out needless information that did not pertain to my main goal of stating the most important facts about myself and what type of student I am. My final draft was mere perfect due to the number of revisions I did on my essay. I wouldn’t consider this the most exciting and “fun” assignment but I thought it was one of the easier assignment to complete because I have a strong passion for writing and helping people understand what kind of person I am and this essay did just that. I did not discover anything more insightful about myself because I only reflected on myself and talked about stuff that I am already familiar with.
The Literacy Memoir essay was the second paper assigned to me this year and I feel confident when I say that it was my favorite paper to write this semester. The context of my paper consisted of relating my literacy sponsors to how I live my life and why it is significant. The audience of this paper was anybody that found how literacy sponsors (such as a parents occupation, working, and the environment you grow up in) affects how you have been shaped into the person you are today. The purpose of this essay was to relate several literacy sponsors to my everyday life and how those sponsors have shaped me into what type of person I am today. For example, starting and owning my own business has shaped me into a very hardworking and motivated student/worker. My main goal was to help the reader achieve in understanding how my lifestyle and family history have shaped my life and how it relates to my primary literacy sponsors. The essay was so well written and thought out the first time that there was little to no improvement needed to be done in order to complete the final draft. Once again, I made a 100% (5 stars) on this essay. I discovered several new things about myself in which I had never thought much of before. For example, I never connected the pieces of how I had become a motivated and hardworking student in connection with my high socio-economic background and origin.
The Genre Analysis Essay was the third and final essay assignment that I completed this semester. The context of the paper includes my details of the film “Friday night lights” and my analysis of the film in several different ways. The audience of this paper is meant for sports drama fans. The purpose of this essay is to distinguish how the film brands itself within the category of a sports drama movie and how the audience recognizes it. I was trying to achieve ways to accurately portray the films foundations of what it is trying to tell the audience. This was a tough essay to write because there is so much stuff one must take into consideration before writing this paper. I went through several revisions until I finally became confident in my final draft. I discovered several new things about the sports drama genre and how it affects people.
In terms of other assignments such as journal entries, I did a few on moodle and they are posted on my weebly webpage. The only challenging aspect about the class was the Genre Analysis Essay because it was tough to piece together the information needed to explain to the audience why the genre is related to them and how it affects their everyday lives such a what items to buy and so forth. After writing all of my essays I am please to have been able to solve all the questions that were asked in the very beginning of not just what to write about but why the topic is significant. I have always been a strong writer through grade school and so writing in college is no different than high school except there’s more work in college so my writing skills have not changed very much through the course of the semester.
The assumption of myself being motivated and dedicated toward this class is quite frankly an understatement and my work speaks as proof. I have put tons of effort toward this class and it shows through my 100% on all essays and my low absentee rate. I always pay attention and I cannot recall one time when I have been disruptive in the classroom. I have missed 2 classes due to a trip I recently took to Oklahoma and I was expected to return Sunday night but hurricane Sandy forced my flight to be canceled out of Dallas Ft. Worth so I was forced to miss that class. All in all, I deserve at the least an A- to an A. the only thing holding me back from an A+ are my journal entries that are not all done but during my meeting with my professor, I discovered that those Journal entries will not affect my grade a lot. I have had a very encouraging and successful semester in this course and I have already requested to take English 1102 with the same professor because I am so impressed with her teaching style.
